Can I Provide A Home For A Hedgehog Please In Berks, Uk?
I have a secure and mature garden in Reading, Berkshire and would like to home a hedgehog as a well loved addition. I would love o help a rescue hedgehog and make it heve the very best life. we would build a specificly designed house and provide for all of its needs. Please contact me if you can help.
Hedgehogs are wild animals, not pets. Shelters release them into the wild, they don’t hand them over to people who want a cute addition to their garden. Buy a gnome.
I have a feeling it is illegal to take a hedgehog as a pet, but here is a list of wildlife rehabilitation centres; http://www.animalrescuers.co.uk/html/wil… if you can find one near you then you could email and see if they need anyone to keep hedgehogs that cannot be released into the wild.
However, I must say I agree with that other girl, hedgehogs aren’t pets really, they are wild animals. But if there are some that can’t go back to the wild then a garden would be good for them – just don’t treat them like a pet too much. They are shy creatures, most don’t like humans at all.
if you contact Mrs tiggywinkles they are a charity that look for homes for said creatures, if your up for a bit of nursing they will even let you raise some babies if they have some, they also have other baby small animals like squirrels to, they have a web site look them up or give them a call, they are in the next county but still only an hour away and a worth while visit
yes deffo!
try your local wild life groups they always need secure places to house hedgehogs all you need is a little nesting box
there are never enough secure gardens that a wildlife group can release hedgehogs back to the wild
good luck and enjoy your new spikey friend ! hedgehogs rock!!
Why dont you make your garden hedgehog friendly and that would entice the wild ones to stay……edit…moonlightonalake is right you know. LOL A gnome!!!!
