Just thought it’d be cool to share as home educators what books our children are enjoying, public and private schoolers may reply too as well as their parents. My 12yo ds learned the formula for PI from “Archimedes and the Door To Science” as well as numerous other types of math and he really desires to learn more geometry and algebra because of that book. Right now he is enjoying “The Mystery of the Periodic Table”, it has inspired to learn both within and outside the book the science of chemistry. He loved all the “Harry Potter” novels. My 8yo dd loves “Handbook of Nature Study” by Anna Comstock, “The Secret Garden”, and now she too is enjoying the “Harry Potter” series and she adores the classic “Secret of the Woods” by William Long. Both really like to read living books that bring life to history, biographies, sciences, etc….
What books have not only inspired your children but have also helped develop within your child(ren) a natural love for learning?

Is there any book or tips I can get on how to take care of a large piece of land. Or should I convert the land into a big garden. I like to move to Northern Cali or Oregon. I hate this grind and city life that I’m in.

Plan to have a sing along piano player, we have a statue of Liberty street lamp, will post “Staten Island Ferry” banner on boat lift. Have concrete back yard, will call it “Tavern on the Slab” Party for approximately 45-50 people; theme is a surprise for the bride and groom. Family very big NY Ranger fans. Party in Florida mid-March. Need more ideas for food, etc. Grooms birthday is day after wedding; plan to have a cake that looks like the Stanley Cup. Can use any and all helpful ideas you have

I want to save and eat the food from my garden as long as possible. I plan to make lots of tomato sauces, pickled things (eggs included), and jellies/jams.
The sauces may/may not have meats or other things.
Question – How long will it keep? Do I have to refrigerate? Should I freeze instead?
Babies will be eating this, please be informed if you choose to answer.

I want to start my own gardening business up, just a small self employed business until it improves, i know the basics about gardening and i am willing to rob borrow and steal to make this idea business take off.
What kind of tools will i need and how would i get clients ETC.

my grandmother birthed 11 children, 9 survived. she took all of them to the fields with her to pick cotton for pay, she grew a large garden and took the produce to the local cannery where she traded half of her gardens produce to have the other half canned for her families use. Grandad was a carpenter and traveled long distances, often leaving her to manage everything.
do you think our notion today is an accurate representation of a woman’s life prior to and during the industrial age?

If you had the chance to help design a new group home for the over-50 set, with minimal medical, but still a safe place, what would you like to add to the house? Assuming we have a nice kitchen and other basics, for our age group, what would be great?
Garage for you guys to do your car work in? Small dance floor for parties? How about a garden (ok, that’s for me!) And a sun roof, definately eco-friendly too.

the thing is i have a blood disorder but need to keep really active..so shoot some suggestions my way on what i could do to start a good reptuable home based business with a low cost star up fees..my experience includes years of, cooking,gardening ,home inspection,interior design, and hobbies include my pets,cooking and gardening,,…all suggestions and comments greatly welcome here..oh also i have catered my sons graduation party and my older sisters second wedding with great reviews from doing her wedding!! so please help me! thanks.
