Okay at school we have a small plot in the back for a butterfly garden that we are going to create tomorrow. My teacher bought veggies, herbs and only flowers that are suppose to attract butterflies. So tomorrow we are going to design it and apparently plant it. I thought we were going to take more time to actually plan the layout of the garden but looks like we are just going to dig in. So I want quickly gather some information on what would possible be the most beneficial layout (I don’t know if herbs would be better next to the veggies or the veggies next to the flowers whatnot). So hopefully this small research will be helpful tomorrow when a bunch of kids show up ready to get their hands dirty (all I can think of is chaos ::shivers::). SO absolutely any help would be fantastic!

I want something to cover my gravel like a grassy cover. I was thinking dwarf hairgrass but they grow too high. I want something small maybe 1 inch. I have cories so thats my main concern. I dont want them getting lost in the grass LOL. My main design for my tank is to have 3 tall plants and then the rest a garden of grassy plants. I know glosso and ricca is hard plant so what is there easy to buy online but is easy to maintain ? I also know that foreground plants arent easy to maintain but what is the easiest of all foreground plants?

I’m planning to create an herb garden. What herbs can I plant together and what should I plant separately. I have no specific herbs yet, but I want to know in general what should and should not go together. And could you tell me how long are the growing periods for the herbs

I am planning to grow tulips in my garden. The flowers look beautiful but I have really not seen a second flower growing (after the first flower dies or breaks). I want to know how it works. After the first flower blossoms and dries up, do more flowers grow on it one after the other or the plant then is a total waste??

I have a slim, terra cotta pot that’s about three feet tall, and it’s a decoration outside in the garden. I was told that such pots heat up to high temperatures in the sun and drastically cool down at night. What kind of outdoor plant lives well in that environment? I was thinking of something vertical like a palm tree, since its surrounded by bushes; or something colorful, if that more pleasantly attracts the eye.

I am planning to make a water garden on my patio, but I will be able to create it only in the middle of May. Will it still be ok to plant a canna?

I am visiting my sister who lives 9 hours away. I am taking some cuttings from her garden to try to root and transplant into my garden. Mainly I am taking green cuttings from Trumpet Honeysuckle, oleander, and jasmine. How can I keep the cuttings fresh during the long drive?

I was planning on starting an organic garden and I wanted to try and use only compost. I would rather avoid using the soil around me only because our yard is constantly sprayed with pesticides and herbicides.
Is there anything that I would need to add to the compost (besides soil or top soil) in order to grow plants? I would really want to avoid regular soil if possible.

I am new to gardening and have been reading up and I am still unsure on timing? I plan to plant a vegetable garden and also rose bushes and some hyacinths and tulips for sure? Any tips?
