PostHeaderIcon A Safe, Maybe Organic, Pesticide For My Tomato Plants In Fl ?

We planted a garden this year, but I guess because we have had no rain in over 40 days, the bugs are loving life. I successfully use tins of beer on the ground for the slugs, but now I need help for the rest! Any suggestions are appreciated!

PostHeaderIcon What Are Some Good Perennial Plants And Flowers That Will Bloom For About A Month During The Summer?

I am planning on having a really big flower garden next year. I would like to plant some perennials, but I would want them to last for about a month, more would be better. I have already bought some gladiolis and some other different kinds of mixed bulbs, and these will bloom for about 1-3 monthes. What are some more? Any lillies or anything like that? I don’t care which type of perennial, but as long as it is nice.
Ps. I have a packet of snapdragon seeds and a packet of larkspur seeds that i didn’t get to plant this year, will they still be good for next year, so i can plant them then? Thanks in advance.

PostHeaderIcon What Is The Best Place To Get Gardening (not Commercial) Varieties Of Vegetable Seed & Plants?

I put in some broccoli last year, spending the whole year fighting off the slugs and pigeons only to find pathetic little florets all at the same time that bolted within a week.
It must have been a commercial variety that needs lots of fertiliser and inputs, and is designed to be harvested once and then ploughed up.
A garden variety can produce a reasonable crop with just a bit of compost, but most important can throw out a few florets over a long season, which are reluctant to bolt.
This system applies to many other types of vegetable – I find sudden harvests most annoying, since I prefer to pick a few for each meal, and the longer the harvesting period the better.

PostHeaderIcon Number Of Plants For Family Garden?

I am planning my family’s “victory garden” for next spring, I am using the square foot gardening method so I am needing the approximate plants needed to feed a family of four. I am also intending to freeze suitable vegetables for winter, but I don’t want to do any canning this time. I am finding a lot of info on the amount of rows needed to yield for a family of four but no info on the actual amount of plants. I am planning on the following in my garden: cantaloupes, carrots, salad greens, onions, tomatoes, pole beans, broccoli, cauliflower, corn, okra, peppers, potato, soybeans, squash and sugar snap peas. My family currently eats quiet a bit of fresh and frozen produce.

PostHeaderIcon I Just Planted 60 Outdoor Bedding Plants. Should I Have Packed The Soil Really Tightly Against The Roots?

Basically I covered the soil and roots with compost from the store and pressed it down with my hands (not overly tight though, Im beginning to wonder if I should check them again to make sure they dont fall over when they start flowering.
Any advice on what to do to prolong their life and what to use or do? I work in a DIY store but know little about gardening, lol.
