PostHeaderIcon Why In The World Would Someone Tell Me That They Never Drink??

I mean, WHY? Help me to understand this concept. I’m no alcoholic, but drinking is a way of life! That’s like saying that you don’t enjoy a beautiful sunrise, or a garden in bloom, or world peace. I feel like I can not drink in front of someone like this because they might judge me for something that brings me great joy and pleasure. I am greatly puzzled, and a little annoyed that I lost out on some good brew tonight to spend time with one of these…pod people.

PostHeaderIcon Pediatricians Are Recommending That They?

change the shape of a hot dog=(
What possible shape could they come up with?
Does anyone else wonder how we survived to become adults…? I even drank water from a garden hose O.o
“If you were to take the best engineers in the world and asked them to design a perfect plug for a child’s airway, you couldn’t do better than a hot dog,” Smith said. “It’s the right size, right shape. It’s compressible so it wedges itself in. When they’re in that tight [it's] almost impossible, even with the correct training and the correct equipment, to get out. When it’s wedged in tightly, that child is going to die.”http://news.yahoo.com/s/hsn/20100222/hl_…

PostHeaderIcon Why Did God Make It So That My Pee Smells Funny After I Eat Asparagus?

If I’m “intelligently designed” wouldn’t it have been more intelligent to make my pee smell garden fresh after eating asparagus?

PostHeaderIcon Christians, How Do You Reconcile The Fact That God Had Already Had In Mind To Send Jesus Before He Created….?

….all that Christianity claims he created (this isn’t the debatable part, btw)?
So, if God had already known prior to the creation of all things, that not only would man fall in the garden,
but commit murder (Cain and Abel),
turn away and need to be exterminated (the flood),
worship other gods and attempt to be god (tower of Babel),
become slaves and flee Egypt then deny God and make more false gods and wander in the desert for 40 yrs,
have various prophets,
the orignial faith would become tainted and Jesus would have to come to die and be resurrected,
a new religion would be created,
people would choose either his path or their own,
the world would be destroyed and recreated……
If God knew ALL of this would happen prior to the creation – then how do you reconcile the fact that we, as humans, are used as tools or toys for the amusment of his will?
From the way I see it, we are created for no other purpose but to fulfil this deities twisted mind. Why create things, you know will fail, and force them to either choose one way or the other, when you already know all of the outcomes prior to them happening? Why punish your own flawed creation? If we were not flawed, we would not sin. So, that means we are born to sin. And, if that’s the case, why be punished for something we are already destined to do?
It just does not at all make any sense. What’s the point? Why even try if you are already doomed to fail before you even start?
Christians, in all seriousness, please tell me how you can accept this without any hard feelings or anger or anything besides love?
And, is it really love from God, if we are all placed in this situation?
I just want your opinions on who you handle this.
Please, PLEASE give me your words, not any scripture.
Also, don’t tell me that “well, you don’t know the love of God, so you can’t understand”. I’m human with feelings and a mind, I can understand if it is reasonable to understand.
Thanks in advance

PostHeaderIcon Is It True That …?

that the best measure of our character is how many friends surround us?
I feel it is and that it was proven by so many expressions of empathy…I wasn’t thinking to much of myself recently, but some very warm and considerate souls helped me see the light.
For you all: Friends are the flowers in the garden of our lives.
And mine is a vibrant canvas, alive with renewed possibility because I have such Brillant beauties amongst my borders.
I count you all in my prayers and hope happiness touches each one of you with each days dawn. Be well,everyone…..i am!!

PostHeaderIcon Why Is It, Do You Think, That “emotion” Is Often Portrayed As Antithetical To Rationality Or Reason?

If not for having some initial investment or emotional cause to associate yourself with an opinion, a state of mind, belief etc. what reason would you have to rationalize it, or to even explain it reasonably?
I understand it possible to subscribe to something on the basis of it standing to the most rational or reasonable scrutiny, but what of the nature of “belief” and subsequent reasons for the need/desire to associate with one at all? Is not the fundamental reason for “belief” a sort of human desire, or need for explanations of the otherwise inexplicable….a way to satiate curiosity, or thoughts/feelings of inadequate understanding (as of present)? What then, would be the cause of losing that initial open-mindedness in the pursuit of the “truth” or nature of it, to complete denunciation of all other possibilities using the rationalization that there can be no other because MINE stands the reasonable explanation given the extent of present understanding and availability of tools with which to find it? Not sure I understand the rationale there…
I’m of the mind that both of these can and do exist complementarily in any one individual. One may trump the other in the decision-making process (a la “follow your ‘head’ or ‘heart’”)– justly or unjustly. Intuition or “the gut” being the “mediator” of sorts. I don’t believe it too rational to rely 100% on either to make a decision, given its implications on your ENTIRE person and that the appeal is not just to sections, bits or pieces of you.
Do you think the reasons may be concerning practicality? That it is simply not practical, though reasonable, to consider any and all possibilities as being just that? That, though there MAY be little garden faeries on my front lawn that I can not see, and I have no way to prove or disprove…it simply isn’t practical to invest efforts to proving it given the very nature of it in the first place?
In that case: Do you that that it may be “practicality” that is the antithesis of the decision-making process that relies heavily on emotion more so that reason? Reason, also extending from experience and relative precedents?

PostHeaderIcon What Are Some Nice Perennials That Will Bloom For About A Month (or More) In The Summer?

I am planning on having a really big flower garden next year. I would like to plant some perennials, but I would want them to last for about a month, more would be better. I have already bought some gladiolis and some other different kinds of mixed bulbs, and these will bloom for about 1-3 monthes. What are some more? Any lillies or anything like that? I don’t care which type of perennial, but as long as it is nice.
Ps. I have a packet of snapdragon seeds and a packet of larkspur seeds that i didn’t get to plant this year, will they still be good for next year, so i can plant them then? Thanks in advance.

PostHeaderIcon Are There Any Organic Fertilizers On The Market That Perform Well For Small Scale Vegetable Gardens?

I am interested in nutitional veggies, not perfect looking tastless ones. I used a well know flower and veggie plant food last year (Miracle Grow) makes nice flowers. The fruit did not taste sweet and the skins were thick and tough. I have added more garden soil and composted manure this year but I want something more to boost the crop in quantity and taste. Any suggestions? Or should that be enough? I am looking for a home made organic fertilizer, any tried and true recipes? I am planning on sharing what ever grows with family and neighbors. so I am hoping for a bumper crop. I am growing lots of tomatos, cucumbers, some watermelon, carrots, yellow beans,radishes,chives,parsley..oh yes flowers lots. I wanted more but ran out of garden darn!
